3D Character Design


Following on from the concept design I made earlier, I then moved on to creating a base mesh for the Knight from my 3D Character Design course. I created the mesh in 3ds Max 2011, making use of the new graphite modelling tools. After finishing the base mesh, I could now bring it into ZBrush to start adding details to the character.

In order to create a good character for my 3D Character Design module at university, first I had to come up with an idea and then create a piece of concept art to use as visual reference when creating the character. After coming up with a few possible characters, I decided on creating a medieval knight. Taking inspiration from pictures of real medieval armour, I drew up some concept art of the front, side, and 3 quarter view of the character which you can see below.
